Rules
of the Warrington Winter League The competition is open to all BCGBA registered players All players must pay the Winter bowling fees payable to Warrington Borough Council. These fees will be collected on the opening Sunday unless the fee has already been paid: If this is the case then the bowler must provide the current season ticket as evidence. Bowlers should attend the venue and book in by 09:15 on the Sunday. Bowling will commence at 09:30. Weekly handicaps will play down to the final which will be decided on a toss of a coin. Handicaps are 3 for men and 5 for Ladies. Games will be 21 up and played with a standard jack. Supplementary competition handicaps are 3 for Ladies and 1 for men and the game will be 15 up and played to a finish. The weekly winner will lose 2 off the handicap and the runner up will lose 1. These losses will last for one week, and then the handicap returns to normal. Any handicap losses the following week for the same player/s will be counted. Although the player/s cannot go below zero handicap on their scorecard, the handicap loss will only be regained as if the handicap loss had been taken. E.g Week 1 Man winner loses 2 Week 2 plays off 1 wins again Week 3 plays off zero (handicap should be -1) –does not win Week 4 regains 2 handicap but plays off 1: not 2 Entry fees will be £4 payable on the Sunday. This entitles the player to be entered into a supplementary handicap for prelim and 1st round losers only. £1 of the entry fee will be used as prize money for the supplementary handicap. Refreshments will be provided and charged for. The monies will go towards the Finals day prize fund. Entries will be obtained prior to the competitions. Entry fees are £4 For the pairs competitions the handicaps are as follows. Man and Lady: 8 Two men: 6 Two ladies: 10. Pairs Supplementary handicaps will also be run and handicaps will be reduced by half with the games being 15 up. Ladies will lead the block. Other bowlers can follow in any order. Pairs will be drawn from entries and will be made up of a man and lady as far as possible. All competitions will be played to a conclusion with prize money, apart from the finalist and runners up, paid out on the day. The winners will be presented with the trophy on the day. The trophy will be handed back to the organisers for presentation along with the prize monies on finals day. Results will be sent into the Warrington Guardian each Sunday and also posted onto the WNCBA website. If there is inclement weather but play has started fees will not be repayable but every effort will be made to complete the remaining games the following week otherwise the fees will be added to the finals day prize fund. Finals day. Entry fee is £3 as no supplementary handicap will be run. There will be a separate Ladies and Men’s’ handicaps, run off normal handicaps and 21 up on the day. The two winners will receive prize money and will then play off for the POWNALL trophy and prize money A free buffet will be provided. All players will receive a money prize on the day. The amount of the prizes will depend on the surplus from weekly entry fees and refreshment monies. If players cannot attend on the final day they will still be entitled to prize money provided they have attended for 50% of the weekly handicaps. Winners and runners up Trophy Prize presentation and buffet will be held prior to the quarter finals of the handicaps. Weekly Handicaps The weekly handicaps (excluding the competitions) will be scored as follows. Attendance 10 points Wins 10 points Loss 5 points. No points given for the supplementary competitions. Each week’s points will then result in a seasonal winner of separate men’s and ladies league tables sponsored by The Wednesday Gang and Tony’s Jacket Spuds. Competitons Opening Handicap: Singles Mixed Help for Heroes: Singles mixed Renee Horne: Ladies Handicap Litton: Men’s Handicap Thomason: Pairs Handicap Bibby: Pairs Handicap Woods: Round Robin Wednesday Gang: Mens Seasonal Handicap Winner. Tony’s Jacket Spuds: Ladies Seasonal HandicapWinner. Finals Day individual Men’s and Ladies handicaps. Pownall Trophy: Finals Day handicap winner’s play off. All winners will be presented with the sponsored trophy with their name on the trophy and a keepsake trophy and the prize money for that competition. All runners up will receive a keepsake trophy and prize money.
